Clients
who wish to execute rewrites and polishes on their own
but with guidance to bump it up may want to utilize
the standard story coaching services (see
private coaching & consultation). Time and
client talent permitting, Patrick can not only
facilitate a better document but an enhancement and
building of skills.
In
some cases, however, in which the real potential of
the project seriously exceeds the client's skill
levels or interest in doing the actual work, it is
possible for Patrick Horton to take on rewrites or
polishes at any stage - assuming the project is of
interest and he is certain he can deliver.
The
preliminary steps even here continue to echo all those
above in that Patrick will want to back up where
possible and get the input from all the key players
involved to assure serving all the real intentions and
interests involved - including the original writer
and/or source material. Trial and error guesswork is
too painful, time-consuming, and costly.
While
the most rapid way to proceed with delivering a
revisions and/or a finished document may be for
Patrick to simply take on the execution, it is
suggested in all cases possible to first utilize his
services as story coach and facilitator to get the
best out of the existing writer and/or team assigned.
In many cases, the failure to deliver the script
desired does not stem solely from the writer's
limitations, but to the lack of clarity in what they
and their employers are after. That said, it is the
ongoing experience for Patrick in working with writers
of all levels that it is in these last steps of
possibly great potential that the final power of any
story is missed AND falls short of the stuff that
would attract talent.
